Art Studio Workshop: Marvelous Mosaics

Head over to the Children’s Museum on Friday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM for the newest addition to the Art Studio Workshop series. This week, children will explore the magic of mosaics and have the opportunity to create their very own masterpieces. Young artists will make their own unique patterns using smooth, colorful glass pieces and then seal their creations with plaster for a truly individualized craft project that can be displayed indoors or outdoors. Pieces will be ready to take home the same day, meaning you won’t have to swing by again later in the week to pick up their newest art piece! This workshop is well suited for kiddos ages 5 and up.

The Denver Botanic Gardens is inviting little ones to explore the Home Harvest Garden with their taste buds this weekend. Salads are more than just lettuce, after all! Seedlings classes offer hands-on experiences for young children to explore the plant world, all while developing an understanding and deeper appreciation for plants and their role in the ecosystem. The Seedlings program includes story time, nature walks, and art projects. Friday’s program is designated for children 18 to 24 months old, with two separate time slots: 9:15 AM and 10:30 AM. One adult per child is admitted free of charge. Regular ticket prices are $12, with a discounted rate for members.
PRO Tip: When attending the Seedlings program at the botanic gardens, participants should come prepared to spend time both indoors and outdoors — weather permitting.
Family Night Out

If you’re ever left scratching your head on a Friday, wondering how to keep the kids entertained — look no further! Kids Wonder hosts a Family Night Out every Friday evening, so call your neighbors and friends and let everyone know the good news. Reservations are for 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday family nights and there is even an option to pre-order a delicious hot pizza for dinner. There will also be Colorado craft beer, premium wine, and soda available for purchase. When you arrive, present your play confirmation number that will be sent via email after your order.
PRO Tip: Generally, reservations are made up until 4:30 PM on Family Nights at Kids Wonder. However, drop-in play may still be available if you missed the reservation window!
Nature Playdate

This fantastic free event is geared towards kids ages 2 to 12 years old. Nature Playdate gives little ones the chance to explore the nature explore space at Majestic View Nature Center in Arvada. From 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, enjoy free play and organized activities like wood cookies, forts, and more. Since this is an outdoor event, kids should be dressed for the weather! If your kiddo loves all things outdoors, this is a great opportunity for them to explore, make new friends, and experience the beautiful natural area while they get their hands dirty.

Colorado Rockies Vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

Friday’s game kicks off at 6:40 PM and Saturday’s game is hosting a giveaway presented by the Colorado Lottery of a camping mug for the first 15,000 fans. Kids’ Breton Matinee

Head over to Dazzle to enjoy an interactive electric harp workshop, featuring traditional Breton dancing and an exciting Celtic music concert. This matinee event invites children to explore these vibrant traditions from France through music and dance by Descofar. Doors open at 11:00 AM and the concert is scheduled for noon. All ages are invited for a magical afternoon of experiencing a cultural exchange from Brittany, Denver’s sister city in France.

Breakfast Fly-In

Wings Over the Rockies has announced a Breakfast Fly-In event at the Exploration of Flight located at the Centennial Airport in Englewood. This special event is scheduled for 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Saturday and will feature planes, pilots, and of course — breakfast! The fly-in was originally scheduled for June 1st but was moved back to the 15th due to the Centennial Airport’s first Runway 5K Race. Attendees will enjoy breakfast from a local food truck (Cruz In & Eat) while they watch aircraft fly by. Take the time to explore interactive exhibits for all ages, as well as simulators. At 11:00 AM, there will be a presentation on the physiology of high altitude and how this impacts pilots by Dave Gissen. The aircraft on display is subject to change.
PRO Tip: The presentation will be eligible for WINGS Pilot Proficiency Program credit for those participating.
Comic Creator Workshop

Wings Over the Rockies invites young artists to visit the Air & Space Museum for a special workshop to celebrate the opening of the new Snoopy and the Red Baron exhibit. A docent will be on-site to share insights about this unique exhibit, as well as the power of the popular Peanuts comic strip. Children will learn how to draw their own comic strip from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. There are limited spots available, so purchase tickets now to ensure space is reserved. The suggested age for this event is 9 and up.
PRO Tip: After the workshop, spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the various exhibits at the museum. The Wright Brothers’ Exhibit showcases the trials, triumphs, and vision of the brothers that propelled them to historical greatness.
Joy Park Workshop: Dinosaur Excavation

This Joy Park workshop takes attendees back to before 1984 when the Children’s Museum first opened its doors along the Platte River. Little excavators will help to uncover what was here before. Join the crew outside at the Joy Park Sand Dunes as they prepare to dig for ancient dinosaur “fossils,” while learning about what life looked like millions of years ago. This activity is designed for children ages 3 and up and is scheduled for 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Little ones should wear clothing that’s comfortable to move around in, as this activity will take place outdoors while they excavate.
PRO Tip: All Joy Park workshop tickets include museum admission, making this the perfect opportunity to explore exhibits such as the Assembly Plant, Art Studio, Box Canyon, and the Book Nook!
Fun at the Firehouse

The next Fun at the Firehouse event is coming up fast, taking place this Saturday at 10:00 AM. This event includes a fire-related story, as well as craft time for the kiddos. After the craft, stick around and enjoy a guided children’s tour of the museum. Reservations for Fun at the Firehouse are required to ensure there are adequate supplies for each attendee. The cost of tickets is $15 per child and includes the program, as well as museum admission. Visitor etiquette at the museum includes keeping all food and drink outside of the museum (with the exception of sealed baby bottles and water) as well as leaving backpacks and large bags in the car as they can damage exhibits.
PRO Tip: You may have heard about some flooding at the Firefighters Museum! Luckily, this hasn’t affected the operating hours, so make sure to stop by and consider a donation to help assist with repairs to the building.
Low Sensory Morning @ the Downtown Aquarium

The Downtown Aquarium is excited to announce another low-sensory morning! Individuals with autism or sensory processing disorders may find the aquarium exhibits overwhelming during regular hours, which is why these low sensory opportunities open early so that families can enjoy the fascinating world of underwater life in a calmer and quieter setting. From 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM, enjoy this truly unique experience that’s designed to make the aquarium accessible for all. After 10:00 AM, the aquarium will be open for regular business hours, which means ambient sounds and the flash flood exhibit will be turned on — however, low-sensory participants are welcome to stay for as long as they wish. Tickets to this event must be purchased online, with children’s admission being priced at $20.99 and adults at $26.99. Visitors 2 and under are free.
PRO Tip: Sunday is also World Sea Turtle Day! So make sure to swing by the exhibit at the aquarium and learn how you can help them thrive and survive in the natural environment.
Teaching Kitchen Workshop: Ice Cream Party

An ice cream sundae isn’t complete without epic toppings, so throw on sprinkles to your heart’s desire. This party is designed for all ages, so come on out and enjoy this sweet treat on a warm summer afternoon.
PRO Tip: When signing up for a workshop at the museum, make sure to include all attendees — including adults and children. Adults must accompany their kiddos at all times, as this is not a drop-off activity.
