Denver’s Globeville neighborhood is bordered by the South Platte River and features various green spaces and shopping opportunities for residents to enjoy. There are multiple eateries to choose from and the diverse community is passionate about supporting local hangouts and family-owned businesses that have been around for decades. The neighborhood invites surrounding communities to come to enjoy live music at Globe Hall and appreciate the art crafted at the Globeville Riverfront Arts Center.

The Best Coffee Near Globeville 

Most people aren’t at their best without their morning cup of caffeine. Luckily, Globeville has several options to offer to residents. Whether you’re a cold brew drinker or an iced latte enthusiast — these neighborhood coffee shops are ready to help you tackle your day.

Prodigy Coffeehouse 

4500 Broadway  

Prodigy Coffeehouse gives back to the surrounding community by hiring young adults for paid apprenticeships, helping them to gain experience and build their confidence in themselves. This hands-on learning opportunity helps to build more sustainable lives and boost economic mobility, all while creating delicious craft coffee drinks. The original shop, located on Colorado Boulevard, has since expanded to a Globeville location. The Broadway shop used to be a motorcycle maintenance garage, which provides a unique ambiance. Customers can drop by for a shot of espresso or even pick up an affogato or a handheld waffle if they’re feeling extra decadent. The coffeehouse features a community meeting space, as well as an outdoor patio area and classroom. 

Lost City River North

Lost City River North is located in Taxi and they’re open on weekdays from 7 AM to 4 PM. Customers should keep an eye out for Lost City’s upcoming bar program and evening menu. The shop offers breakfast options, such as burritos, sandwiches, and yogurt and granola parfaits, and a lunch menu that includes sandwiches, salads, and a La Seta torta. Globeville has a range of hole-in-the-wall joints and family-owned eateries, waiting to make you a return customer. If you’re craving a burger and fries, head to Butcher Block Cafe. For a smothered burrito, Gomez Burritos is hard to beat. Searching for Mexican conchas? Emmanuel’s Bakery has a variety of sweet breads and cookies. 

Butcher Block Cafe

Butcher Block Cafe is proud to have remained family-owned for over three decades in the Denver area. All three locations are serving breakfast and lunch, with the 38th Street spot serving dinner as well. When you’re craving comfort food, nothing hits the spot the way a home-cooked meal does. The breakfast menu includes pancakes, French toast, smothered burritos, and even the popular Denver omelet with ham and green peppers. Lunchtime entrees include burgers, chicken sandwiches, steak, and chef salads for those wanting to keep it on the lighter side. Save room for a slice of pie or carrot cake and grab a few homemade cinnamon rolls for later!

Gomez Burritos

Whilst searching for the best burrito in Denver, Gomez Burritos should make the list. The casual atmosphere and solid service have built up a loyal following over the years. The hole-in-the-wall eatery serves high-quality flavors at an affordable price. The #1A burrito is a popular choice for breakfast, as it includes eggs, potatoes, green chile, and cheese. Whether you’re looking for a quick takeout lunch or a grab-and-go breakfast option before you head towards the mountains for a big weekend hike — Gomez Burritos proudly serves Denverites while they tackle their next adventure. 

Emmanuel’s Bakery 

500 East 45th Avenue  

Emmanuel’s has been a Globeville gem for many years, selling a wide range of baked goods and Mexican fare such as tacos and tortas. Stop in before work for a breakfast burrito and try their fresh salsa or grab a concha as a snack. The bakery even keeps a limited selection of groceries available, making it a one-stop shop for dessert, lunch, and a few staples. The family-owned bakery whips up authentic dishes at an affordable price. Service is efficient, friendly, and welcoming. The only difficult part about visiting Emmanuel’s is when you’re left scratching your head, wondering which treat you should buy.

Comal Heritage Food Incubator 

1950 35th Street  

Comal Heritage Food Incubator was launched to help the local community secure the training needed to find jobs in the industry and features a multipurpose kitchen space where participants will join a cohort and learn invaluable skills throughout a 36-month program. Their restaurant is open Tuesday through Friday, from 8 AM to 2 PM. There is patio seating available, as well as indoor dining space. Customers will enjoy the ever-changing menu, which reflects heritage and scratch-made dishes using locally sourced ingredients. Comal Heritage Food Incubator also helps to put on the Globeville Community Farmers Market, which is a pay-what-you-can market selling fresh produce, local protein, homemade baked goods, and even prepared meals to make weeknights a little bit easier. 

Casa Don Juan Mexican Restaurant

The owners of Casa Don Juan are dedicated to their cuisine and to providing diners with an authentic experience and a comfortable atmosphere to sit down and enjoy a meal with loved ones. Ingredients are always fresh and service is always friendly. Whether you’re celebrating a birthday or an anniversary, or if you’re just celebrating the weekend — Casa Don Juan is the place to gather. Breakfast at the restaurant consists of classic favorites such as huevos rancheros and burritos de machaca. Burritos, tamales, nachos, and tacos are also staples on the menu. If you have room after your meal, snag a piece of flan or a slice of tres leches cake. The fried ice cream is a burst of textures, with sweet French vanilla ice cream and a crispy cornflake batter.

Globeville has multiple small shops that sell vintage clothes, small trinkets, and even home goods. While the neighborhood isn’t known as being a shopping extravaganza, people travel from bordering neighborhoods to rent outdoor gear for their next weekend excursion.

Denver is a short drive away from endless outdoor recreation activities, such as climbing, hiking, and camping. Outdoors Geek Gear Rentals provides you with everything you need to get out and explore the Rockies and the surrounding landscape. The company rents tents, camping packages, backpacking necessities, and even a glamping set for those who want to enjoy the outdoors in style. There are also clearance deals and new and used gear available for purchase. Family camping rental packages begin at $330, which is the perfect way to try out a new hobby before committing to gear for the whole family. The package includes a tent, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, cookware, a table, towels, and even a propane stove.

The Nightlife Scene Around Globeville  

Globeville has several bars that stay open late, as well as the Globe Hall venue that puts on live shows every week. 

Globe Hall Live Music and BBQ 

4483 Logan Street  

When visiting Globe Hall, there is never a cover in the restaurant or bar area. Visitors can enjoy Texas-style BBQ and drinks even without attending a show, including the popular happy hour between 5 PM and 7 PM every day except Sunday. Aside from BBQ, including vegan options, there are tacos, appetizers, and even a Nashville hot chicken sandwich on the menu. The large back patio is the perfect space to kick your feet up and enjoy a meal in the crisp evening air. Tables can be reserved in advance and the venue keeps an updated event calendar, with upcoming shows including concerts by Kyle Moon & the Misled, Ezra Bell, and The Vegabonds with Seth Beamer. There are also various dance parties throughout the year.

Number Thirty Eight

3560 Chestnut Place  

Number Thirty Eight serves up some of Colorado’s finest brews, which are best enjoyed while playing corn hole or hanging out with friends on the dance floor. The taproom has over 120 options, from over 15 Colorado makers. The rotating selection keeps the bar exciting and provides flavor profiles for beer consumers, wine drinkers, and even whiskey enthusiasts. There is even free entertainment on the docket every night, including local bands and big-name acts who are visiting Denver.

Globeville’s Outdoor Spaces 

Globeville welcomes residents and visitors alike to lounge in the neighborhood’s urban outdoor spaces and enjoy the fresh Colorado air. While the Heron Pond Natural Area doesn’t offer a lot of amenities, it makes for a tranquil escape from bustling life in the city and Caprio Sanguinette Park and Argo Park have sports fields and playgrounds to fulfill an active lifestyle. 

Heron Pond Natural Area

Heron Pond is conveniently located and provides access to a small lake area, with trees that provide adequate shade. This urban open space attracts a variety of bird species, so it’s common to see avid bird watchers on the lookout with a pair of binoculars in tow. The area is connected by trails to nearby Northside Park, as well as a bike path that follows adjacent to the South Platte River. The natural area is open year-round and is operated by the municipality. Admission is free, with parking being found along the bordering roads. There are no restrooms or amenities such as water fountains or picnic tables, though picnics can easily be had in the traditional sense with a blanket and an adventurous attitude. 

Carpio Sanguinette Park 

1400 53rd Avenue  

Carpio Sanguinette Park is a tranquil area within the Globeville neighborhood and features walking and biking paths, as well as a soccer field for friendly pickup games. The 13-acre park is a great place to spot urban wildlife while enjoying a picnic or relaxing with a good book. The public park was named after Denver community leaders, Sal Caprio and the Sanguinette family. The best way to access the park is from the Platte River Greenway, as well as an additional access point from Washington Avenue. 

Argo Park

Argo Park is a charming outdoor getaway in the Globeville neighborhood, featuring a swimming pool with a water slide and a spray fountain that is enjoyed by all ages on especially hot summer days. The updated play area and the lighted baseball field, as well as the basketball court and picnic areas, are all amenities that make Argo Park a family destination on the weekend. The park hosts annual events such as the Old Globeville Days and Orthodox Food Festival, which unite the community and bring attention to the historical background of the area.

Globeville Riverfront Arts Center

The Globeville Riverfront Arts Center, also known as GRACe, is one of the neighborhood’s cultural hubs. The center is home to over 80 artists who work across different media formats such as paint, fiber, photography, ceramics, jewelry, and printmaking. Other creative businesses within the center include web designers and interior designers. The space is dedicated to providing a clean and comfortable place for creatives to dedicate time and energy to their artistic endeavors. Upcoming events include the Autumn Artfest 2023.
