This weekend in Denver, check out the Ducky Derby as hundreds of rubber ducks race down the river or see what treasures are waiting on you at ThriftCon! Whether you prefer to be outside or you’re looking to beat the heat at indoor events, Denver has something for everyone.

DroneArt Show: Harry Potter™

Where? 1000 Larimer Street
When? July 10th & 11th

Are you ready to revisit the most memorable and iconic moments from everybody’s favorite film series? The Harry Potter™ films are taking to the sky at the spectacular DroneArt Show this weekend, inspired by the magic of the iconic wizarding world and fan-favorite characters. Shows will start at 9:15 PM, with doors opening two hours beforehand. Organizers encourage attendees to arrive early. The show will take place in Tivoli Quad, Auraria Campus and have a duration of 60 minutes with an intermission. All ages are welcome and the venue is ADA compliant. 1,200 drones will illuminate the night sky as they recreate some of the most beloved film moments in a breathtaking formation of light. This is a fully immersive and multi sensory experience for witches, wizards and muggles of all ages and backgrounds.

Denver French Fest

Where? 105 Fillmore Street

The Denver French Fest is free and open to all across three days of family-friendly celebration of French culture and Bastille Day. Taking place in Cherry Creek North, the Denver French Fest is an immersion into the finer things in life, from Provençal markets to live jazz manouche. Attendees can also take in contemporary art installations and world-class bites. Take a step into Café de Paris, where you’ll find French-inspired cocktails, wine, beer and festival eats. At last year’s festival, there were 6,000+ attendees, 40+ curated vendors and 20 events and performances, so don’t miss out on what this year has in store for you!

Crosscurrents

Where? 15th Street and Little Raven Street

Crosscurrents is a day of music and fun on Denver’s South Platte River. Held in Confluence Park, this event boasts an exciting lineup with a sunset and a moonlight set! From 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, soak in rays of sunshine and enjoy good vibes and a welcoming community at this festival fundraiser for The Greenway Foundation, which is a Denver-based nonprofit that’s leading efforts to enhance and protect the river. There will be two live music stages, water activities, a kids zone, food trucks and so much more.

Ducky Derby

Where? 4797 National Western Drive

Ducky Derby is sure to be a splash this weekend at the National Western Center. This family-friendly FUNdraiser boasts hundreds of rubber duckies as they race down the South Platte River in what’s going to be a spirited competition benefitting the GES Community Investment Fund. Participants will have the opportunity to adopt a duck before the race and cheer it on as the flock makes its way down the river. The first ducks to cross the finish line will win awesome prizes! Adopt one duck or adopt a whole flock to increase your chances of winning. However you participate, this quirky fundraiser is an exciting way to spend the afternoon. Festivities will be held from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with ducky races beginning at noon.

Heatwave Half Marathon

Break a sweat before you cool off at the Heatwave Half Marathon at Chatfield State Park this Saturday! The National Anthem and race start are scheduled for 7:00 AM and will be preceded by the 6:55 AM kids dash. The kids dash is for kiddos ages 10 and under! If you can brave the heat, then you’ll be rewarded with an ice cold treat at the finish line. ThriftCon Denver

This Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, head to the Livestock Center at the National Western Center for ThriftCon Denver! This is the nation’s premier vintage clothing and collectible convention. If this is your first time visiting, then ThriftCon is more than a market. It’s a full-scale celebration of all things vintage culture! You’ll find vintage clothing and collectibles plucked straight out of the ‘70s through the 2000s. Denver Summit FC vs. Houston Dash

The Denver Summit is facing off against the Houston Dash this Sunday at 5:00 PM at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park. Denver Onyx vs Bay Breakers

Catch the speed, skill and physicality of Women’s Elite Rugby (WER) as the Denver Onyx faces down the Bay Breakers. WER is a bold league that’s hailed as the pinnacle of women’s domestic rugby in the United States, driven by powerful athletes with a competitive spirit. The league spans six markets, with the Denver Onyx forming at the beginning of 2025. The team plays their home games at Infinity Park. If this is your first game, you can explore the concession offering on the west side of the stadium or check out the food trucks in the Fan Zone on the south side of the stadium. Merch will be available at the “Shopping Maul” on the west concourse. 

PRO Tip: Spectator gates open an hour prior to kickoff through the south main gate.

Movies on the Green: Zootopia 2

Grab your blankets and the family and head out to the South Green for a screening of Zootopia 2! Bring a cooler with your favorite snacks and beverages and enjoy this outdoor experience designed to unite the community. Attendees are welcome to bring lawn chairs as well, so long as they do not obstruct the view of others. The movie will begin at dusk and there will additionally be a concession stand to benefit a local nonprofit organization, so grab some freshly popped popcorn, candy, sodas and bottled water!

Golden Movies & Music in the Park: Balto

This Friday, catch an evening of live entertainment, great food and a family-friendly movie under the stars! Balto will be on the big screen this weekend, so bring a blanket or lawn chairs and get comfy before the show begins. You can even purchase food from on-site food trucks or bring your own bites along! Dessert options will also be available from Sweet Cream Moo Mobile and there will be a local student group selling freshly popped popcorn. After all, what’s movie night without some popcorn? The evening will kick off at 7:00 PM with live music by the funky and soulful Atomic Jones Band. The movie is scheduled to begin at 8:30 PM!

Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live

When? July 11th & 12th

The monster trucks are coming back to Ball Arena this weekend! On Saturday and Sunday, check out these wicked cool rides as they show off must-see tricks in this high-octane event. The Glow-N-Fire tour is bigger and better than ever, supercharged with pyro effects, dazzling lighting and jaw-dropping stunts. Cheer on your favorite trucks, whether your kiddo is a huge fan of Mega Wrex™, Tiger Shark™, Bone Shaker™ or the all-new Rhinomite™! This is the ultimate weekend family experience and you won’t want to miss it! Saturday kicks off with a 9:00 AM pre-show, followed by the main show at 11:30 AM. Continue the fun at the second show Saturday evening or wave the trucks off on Sunday at 1:30 PM!
