Where? Fairmount Cemetery, 430 S Quebec St, Denver Honor the men and women who have served their country while exploring Denver’s rich military history during the Fairmount Cemetery Civil War Veterans Tour. On Saturday, November 7th, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., join a Fairmount Heritage Foundation tour guide at Ivy Chapel for a guided exploration of the cemetery and its connections to Colorado’s military heritage. Fairmount Cemetery features several notable military memorials, including a Spanish-American War memorial, a WWII Tuskegee Airmen plaque, and a veterans plaza and Garden of Honor. The Fairmount Heritage Foundation, a nonprofit established in 2001, works to preserve and promote the historical, cultural, and environmental legacies of Fairmount and Riverside cemeteries. Although dedicated Civil War programming is primarily associated with Riverside Cemetery, the organization’s broader veterans-focused tours provide an opportunity to learn about the individuals and stories woven into Denver’s past. The tour is free, and reservations aren’t required, so guests can attend even if the event appears sold out.
