Funk in the Name

Dazzle is excited to present Funk in the Name this Friday! This is an all-ages show, with doors opening at 9:30 PM and the show slated to begin at 10:00 PM. The musical style can be best described as a cross between funk, pop, second line, and jazz. The brass band hails from outside of Denver and is dedicated to crafting energetic and engaging shows that invite the audience to feel the groove. Funk in the Name shows are known for their ripping horn lines, blasting bass lines, and drum grooves that will have you dancing the night away. The band plays a healthy mix of cover songs that everyone recognizes, as well as original pieces and improvised music to keep the energy high.

Spring Plant Sale

The Spring Plant Sale at the Denver Botanic Gardens will be held from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Friday and Saturday at the York Street location. This is a date that many area plant enthusiasts have circled on their calendars. Get ready to browse an extensive selection of florals, as well as fruits, veggies, natives, and adapted plants that have been curated to thrive in Colorado’s unique mountain climate. Whether you’re looking to overhaul your entire garden or you simply want to pick up a new houseplant, there’s something for everyone at the Spring Plant Sale. Admission is free but reservations are required.

PRO Tip: Member-only shopping will be held during the first hour from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM and members also receive 10% off their purchases!

Dom Dolla

Where? 101 West 14th Avenue
When? May 9th & 10th

Dom Dolla is coming to Civic Center Park this Friday and Saturday! The Grammy-nominated Australian house music producer and DJ is bringing the party to the park this weekend, kicking off from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Friday. The set is sure to be one of the weekend’s most exciting events, so snag your tickets now before they’re gone! Openers include Cassian, Girl Math, and Option4. This is an 18 and over show and tickets are available starting at $123.25 for general admission, which includes added fees.

PRO Tip: There is an 8 ticket per household limit in place for this show. A valid ID must be presented for entrance and fans can begin to transfer tickets 3 days prior to the event.

Colorado Chocolate Festival

Where? 4655 Humboldt Street

The Colorado Chocolate Festival is a must for chocolate lovers from across the Centennial State. This flagship two-day event is held on the Friday and Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend and in 2025, it will be held at a new location — the National Western Expo Hall. There will be timed entry sessions to prevent overcrowding, resulting in a more relaxed atmosphere where you can peruse the vendors and sample tasty treats. General admission is priced at $10 or you can snag a $6 pass to session three on Saturday between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM to take advantage of last-minute deals from vendors! Kids can get in free if they’re 10 or younger.

PRO Tip: Venue parking is priced at $10 on Friday and $15 on Saturday.

Colorado Rockies vs. San Diego Padres

Both the Healthcare Appreciation Series and the Teacher Appreciation Series are wrapping up this weekend, so make sure to show your appreciation for these pillars of the community. The Rockies want to pay special thanks to healthcare workers and teachers, so grab one of the special ticket packages to receive a limited-edition Rockies-themed lunch bag. The schedule for this weekend’s series kicks off at 6:40 PM on Friday, followed by 6:10 PM on Saturday, and wraps up at 1:10 PM on Sunday.

UkeFest

UkeFest turns 16 this year! This day-long celebration will feature an array of performances and workshops for all levels of uke players. Doors open at 9:30 AM and workshops begin a half hour later. There will be an evening concert at 6:15 PM. The artist lineup this year features Grammy Award-winner Daniel Ho, Danielle Ate the Sandwich, Feng E, and Daniella Katzir & Casey Cormier. All-day passes are on sale now or you can opt for the concert-only or workshop-only options. Swallow Hill members get $5 off with their discount code.

DoNot Stop Half Marathon

The DoNot Stop Half Marathon will be held in Chatfield State Park in nearby Littleton this Saturday. Whether you walk or run — all that you need to bring to this race is a love for donuts! This annual fan-favorite donut-themed race is perfect for the whole family and registration includes free photos, awesome swag, and of course, a delicious donut waiting for you at the finish line. There are a variety of mileage options, starting with the untimed 1 mile, as well as a 5K and 10K option if you don’t want to endure the entire half marathon. There will also be a kid’s dash for ages 10 and under!

Cherry Creek Fresh Market

The Cherry Creek Fresh Market is bustling with all of your favorites, as well as an abundance of fresh finds to keep you fueled throughout the week. This is the 2nd season for the Fresh Market, which now occupies a fresh space on the east side of the Cherry Creek Shopping Center. The market runs Saturdays through October 11th from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Shop in-season Colorado products, such as farm fresh flowers, fruits and veggies, house plants, culinary herbs, fresh dairy, local honey, and much more. You can even find locally distilled spirits, artisanal bread and pastries, and coffee and espresso!

PRO Tip: Don’t forget to shop for Fido at the market too, where you’ll find pet treats made with your pup in mind!

Mother’s Day Pup Portraits & Spring Sips

PRO Tip: If you’ve never been to a Rapids game before — the park is one of the largest professional complexes in the United States! The venue can hold approximately 18,000 for home games and up to 27,000 for concerts.

Cockpit Demo Day

Wings Over the Rockies hosts a monthly Cockpit Demo Day, which allows the public a chance to get up close and personal with select aircraft at the museum. If you’re fascinated by the history of aircraft, as well as the instruments and controls that they’re operated with — this is the prime opportunity to take a deep dive! May’s Cockpit Demo Day is scheduled from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday and is set to feature the Martin EB-57 Canberra, the Alexander Eaglerock, the Cessna O-2A Skymaster, the Convair F-102A Delta Dagger, and the Star Wars T-65 X-Wing. The Skymaster is wheelchair accessible. Featured aircraft are subject to change.

Springtime Art Splash: A Family Sit and Paint

Check out Springtime Art Splash at the Sam Gary Branch Library this Saturday from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM. Join in on the creative family fun with a colorful painting session — experience not required! This program is perfect for all skill levels and ages, allowing families to spend quality time while they unleash their inner artist. There will be a Hydrangea project to paint step by step or families can opt to work on their own projects and express their unique ideas!

PRO Tip: This program is limited to the first 30 participants. No registration is required — so arrive early! All materials will be provided. 

Music in the Galleries: The Playground Ensemble

Denver’s Clyfford Still Museum will be showcasing its Music in the Galleries program this Sunday, with performances at 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM. Enjoy The Playground Ensemble in the galleries, with performances included with museum admission. The group consists of professional musicians dedicated to presenting chamber music as a living art form. No registration is required and walk-ins are welcome! These concerts are intended to be a family-friendly introduction to live music and attendees are welcome to sit, stand, wiggle, and walk through the galleries while they groove to the tunes. Seating is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

PRO Tip: Admission is always free for children ages 17 and under. Adult admission is priced at $15 and seniors ages 65+ can visit for $13.
