This weekend, the Mile High City calendar is packed with an array of celebrations. From Juneteenth parades, Celtic music jam sessions, live music in the park and professional sporting events, you can do it all in Denver! 

Juneteenth: A Freedom Celebration

Where? 1 East Memorial Parkway 
When? June 19th

This Friday, celebrate Juneteenth on the Festival Lawn in Northglenn from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Music will be performed by Hazel Miller and The Collective, which can be described as high-energy jazz, sexy soul, jumping funk and dreamy love songs. The event will be co-hosted with the City of Northglenn’s DISE Board created in partnership with Dream Create Inspire Tours. This is a free outdoor event designed to honor freedom and creativity and encourage community engagement and cultural celebration. There will be a vendor marketplace, wellness demonstrations, food trucks, and a variety of performances and “Dream Flow” collaborative music creation.

PRO Tip: Neighborhood parks offer limited parking. Attendees are encouraged to walk or ride a bicycle when possible. 

Colorado Rockies vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

Where? 2001 Blake Street
When? June 19th-21st

The Colorado Rockies are playing the Pittsburgh Pirates this weekend. Whether you’re celebrating Father’s Day or you just want to cheer on Denver’s baseball team – it’s sure to be a great time! Friday’s game is scheduled for 6:40 PM and the night’s promotion features an MSU Denver ticket package and Saturday’s 7:10 PM game keeps the fun rolling with a soccer jersey giveaway for the first 15,000 fans presented by Coca-Cola. On Sunday, enjoy a pregame flyover by the Buckley Air Force Base after the National Anthem at 1:10 PM and snag a Father’s day Hawaiian shirt giveaway presented by King Soopers for the first 15,000 fans in attendance. 

PRO Tip: When shopping for tickets, fans must purchase a promotional ticket package in order to receive select giveaways. Sunday’s U.S. Air Force Academy ticket package includes a limited-edition Academy-themed Rockets hat, for instance. 

Celtic Session with Denver Celtic Night

Check out Saturday’s Celtic Session with Denver Celtic Night at Fiction Beer Company. From 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM, join other Celtic musicians for an hour of tune learning. The initial hour will be followed by a faster-paced session. This event is open and free to the public and is held on the third Saturday of each month. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced Celtic musician, you’re welcome to join in on the musical adventure! 

PRO Tip: Bring an instrument and join in or grab a beer or two and enjoy the awesome jam session! 

Highlands Street Fair

Where? 3737 West 32nd Avenue
When? June 20th

This Saturday, make plans to check out the Highlands Street Fair from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The full schedule features live music, shopping and food options galore. Enjoy a free Orange Theory fitness class in the morning or catch various dance groups across multiple stages. Live Music kicks off in the afternoon with Gentleman Deluxe, Denver Metro Jazz, The Beloved Invaders and many more. The vendor market will feature 100+ artisans, so whether you’re snagging something last minute for Father’s Day or shopping ahead for summer birthdays and anniversaries, you’ll find a little bit of everything at the fair! 

PRO Tip: There will be a Highlands Street Fair Car Show on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, which is the newest addition to the fair! Participation is free for those wanting to show off their ride at the inaugural event.

Spirit Colorado Festival

When? June 20th

Head over to the RiNo Art District for Denver’s premier wine and spirits festival this Saturday. From 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, enjoy an unforgettable afternoon of local wineries, distilleries, food vendors, live music and art. Your ticket includes unlimited tastings from Colorado wineries and distilleries, food samples from top local chefs and vendors, live bands throughout the afternoon and access to local artists.

Juneteenth Parade

Where? 26th Street (Williams to Welton)
When? June 20th 

Be a part of Denver’s longest running parade, which dates back to the 1950s! The Juneteenth Parade this Saturday will be held at 11:00 AM. The route begins at Manual High School and will travel along 26th Avenue from Williams Street to Welton Street before ending in the historic Five Points neighborhood. Nearly 5,000 people are expected to march in the parade. The parade serves as the opening for the 15th Annual Juneteenth Music Festival, which is set to feature live music, local vendors, artwork and a range of family-friendly activities throughout the weekend. Enjoy good tunes and even better times at the festival immediately following the parade.

29th Annual Edgewater Music Festival

Where? 5570 West 24th Avenue 
When? June 20th

The Edgewater Music Festival will be held in Citizen’s Park this Saturday from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM. There will be a full day of live music, food and artisan vendors. With 10 live bands taking the stage, audiences can expect nonstop energy from start to finish. A $10 all-day pass offers access to all live performances, plus a vibrant lineup of local vendors and delicious food options. This is a family-friendly event, so bring the kids out. Children under 12 are free. All proceeds from this weekend’s event support Habitat for Humanity Metro Denver and other affordable housing programs to help support stronger communities and brighter futures.

City Park Jazz: Hazel Miller & The Collective

Where? 2001 Colorado Boulevard 
When? June 21st

This weekend, Hazel Miller & The Collective will be performing from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This is one of Colorado’s most sought after bands, led by a performer who has shaped the Centennial State’s music scene for nearly four decades! Miller was inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame in the summer of 2023, alongside fellow legends, Big Head Todd and the Monsters. With a voice described as “stunning, moving, and powerful,” this is a performance that you won’t want to miss. The band’s eclectic blend of jazz, R&B, blues and original music captivates audiences of all ages and will have the crowd dancing and singing along in no time. 

PRO Tip: City Park Jazz produces 10 free jazz concerts each summer in City Park. This is a locals-only festival, meaning only bands or musicians based in Colorado are booked for this community favorite tradition. 

Vibes in the Park

Where? 800 North Delaware Street
When? June 21st

This Sunday, kick it with Vibes in the Park at Sunken Gardens Park. From 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, soak up the best vibes in the city while you relax, lounge and meet cool folks. This free community outdoor series celebrates music, movement and culture. Events feature live DJs, wellness activations, and an abundance of community connection with black and brown joy at the center. The main entrance and check-in table is located along the southern edge of the gardens. All ages are welcome! 

PRO Tip: To have the best experience, consider bringing blankets, chairs, water bottles, coolers, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, and even park regulated tents! Make your experience comfortable and enjoyable with cold drinks and tasty bites. 

Bodies: The Science Within

Where? 500 16th Street, Suite 10
When? Through June 28th

Don’t miss the Bodies: The Science Within exhibition while it’s in Denver! Visitors of all ages are invited on a journey through real human specimens, which have been carefully and respectfully preserved, to uncover the intricate systems that sustain life. This is an immersive experience that reveals how our bodies work and what we’re made of. Allow yourself up to 90 minutes to tour the exhibit and if you need to change your time slot, you can do so online ahead of time! General admission tickets are available, with discounted weekday pricing and weekend rates for adults and discounts for children ages 5 to 15 and seniors, military, veterans and students with valid ID. The immersive exhibition will be on display through June 28th from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

Family-Friendly Activities in Denver This Weekend

Make the most of what the Mile High City has on tap for families with a free day at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science or a free night at Joy Park. Of course, a trip to the zoo is always a blast as well. Celebrate the Denver Zoo’s 130th anniversary this summer! 

Children’s Museum: Free Night at Joy Park

What beats 60,000 square feet of free outdoor fun? Joy Park and Adventure Forest will be open for free this Friday from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM in collaboration with Denver Parks and Recreation. Outdoor activities are abundant, from climbing, digging, zip-lining, splashing and more. Families should plan for an awesome evening out by bringing sunscreen, towels, a change of clothes and extra socks. If you’re looking for a way to get the weekend off to a rocking good start, then head on over to the Children’s Museum and let the little ones have the time of their life! 

PRO Tip: Reservations are not required for this event, so just show up and enjoy.

Free Day at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science

Where? 2001 Colorado Boulevard 
When? June 19th

The Denver Museum of Nature and Science offers multiple free days and nights throughout the year and this Friday is one of them! These select opportunities to visit the museum for free are funded by the Scientific & Cultural Facilities District. A separate ticket is required for those wanting to visit the planetarium or select temporary exhibits (including The World’s Largest Dinosaurs). Celebrate Juneteenth at the museum this Friday, with additional festivities including special performances, music, and activities for the entire family. Limited free parking is available at the museum in the underground parking garage.

PRO Tip: No advance registration is required for general admission on Friday. Simply walk up to the ticket desk starting at 9:00 AM.

130th Summer Celebration @ Denver Zoo

Where? 2300 Steele Street
When? Through September 7th

Don’t miss the summer-long celebration at the Denver Zoo with exciting surprises around every corner, including fun activities and all-new experiences to commemorate this milestone occasion. Celebrate animal birthday parties, extended Zoo hours, member exclusives and a range of special events throughout the summer. This is a daily celebration, so catch the Celebration Squad roaming the zoo or take in musical entertainment daily with rotating artists performing at 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM in the Wildlife Plaza all summer long. Say hello and goodbye to an animal ambassador as you enter near the main entrance from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM and again at 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM.

PRO Tip: Parents won’t want to skip the Colorado Lounge, where you can ring in Colorado’s 150th with a bar, local brews and more.
