Activities, Events, Shows, and More in Denver This Weekend

Are you in the mood to cheer on the home team this weekend? Show your support for the Nuggets or the Denver Men’s Ice Hockey team as they face off against their opponents. Want to sample wine and bites from across the city? The Denver Wine Walk is the perfect opportunity to do just that!

Denver Nuggets vs. Brooklyn Nets

The Denver Nuggets are gearing up to play the Brooklyn Nets this Friday at 7:00 PM. Head on over to Ball Arena and cheer loudly for the home team with your crew. Tickets are available now, starting at $35.70. There is an overall 8-ticket limit for this event, so grab seats in a group or head to the game solo and make new friends with your seat neighbors. Doors open at 6:00 PM, giving you plenty of time to pick up your favorite game-day concessions, something refreshing to drink, and to settle into your seat.

PRO Tip: Ball Arena has a no re-entry policy. Make sure that you don’t exit the arena prematurely, as you won’t be permitted back into the arena. The bag policy at the arena states that bags (including purses) are not allowed, with the exception of medical and diaper bags that fit a specific size requirement.

Denver Wine Walk

This guided Denver wine tour gives you the insider’s guide to dining in the Mile High City, with samples of wine paired with small plates and exciting stories about the food and wine scene around town. Participants will also receive exclusive discounts on bottles and wine clubs. Throughout the tour, you’ll sip, savor, and walk through the heart of downtown while visiting some of the top urban wineries and wine bars, including one of the city’s newest wine bars run by a James Beard award-winning restaurant group! Tastes include iberico pork croquettes, chocolate flights, French onion soup dumplings, and more. The tour meets at the Crawford Hotel check-in desk inside Union Station.

PRO Tip: Tastings are subject to change along the tour. Organizers can’t fully accommodate dairy-free or gluten-free diets on the tour.

Denver vs. Miami Men’s Ice Hockey

Catch the Denver Pioneers Men’s Ice Hockey team as they take on Miami this Friday at Magness Arena. The game is scheduled for 7:00 PM, so enjoy an evening of tasty concessions, cold drinks, and plenty of fun for the whole group. Whether you’re opting to bring the family or you want to enjoy an adult’s night out, nothing beats a hockey game in January! Tickets are on sale now, beginning at $31 for Friday’s matchup and $20 for Saturday’s 6:00 PM game.

PRO Tip: When purchasing your seats online, you can save on the $5 game day increase when buying seats at the window.

A Night in New Orleans

Get ready for a night to remember as the Colorado Jazz Repertory Orchestra brings the vibrant spirit of New Orleans to life in the Mile High City. This electrifying evening of music and celebration will feature the soulful sounds of blues and the swinging melodies of big horns. Attendees will enjoy a rousing experience that will transport them straight into the heart of the Big Easy. A Night in New Orleans will feature Tatiana LadyMay Mayfield at the Aurora Fox Arts Center from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM this Saturday.

PRO Tip: Make sure to reserve your seats in advance, with only a few remaining spots available! Grab yours ASAP. Tickets are priced at $38 for orchestra seating and $32 for mezzanine, with discounted rates offered to seniors ages 60 and up, military members, students, and children ages 12 and under.

Adulti-Verse Space Rodeo

Head to Meow Wolf at Convergence Station this Saturday for this 21-and-up event. Doors open at 5:00 PM as attendees gather to celebrate the kick-off of the National Western Stock Show. This rodeo party is sure to be out of this world, so break out your satin chaps and put on your best star-studded boots. There will be drink specials and themed cocktails, plus a $150 gift card giveaway to the best-dressed ranch hand in the Space Rodeo Costume Contest. As always, Portal Pass holders will enjoy additional discounts and perks.

PRO Tip: Tickets to the Space Rodeo are on sale now for $49. A valid photo ID must be presented at the time of entrance. From 5:00 PM onward, only travelers 21 and up will be admitted. The last entrance time for those underage will be 3:00 PM.

This weekend’s Sip & Swap event in the Highlands is labeled as a fun-filled evening where participants can bring their warm weather pieces to swap as the chilly season descends upon Denver. Organizers request gently used clothing and accessories that you’re ready to part with and trade amongst fellow fashion enthusiasts. Worldbuilding 101

This Worldbuilding 101 Free Masterclass will be hosted at Tattered Cover on Colfax. Interested parties can enjoy a presentation of skilled authors who will discuss how to create a relevant and believable world for sci-fi and fantasy stories. This Saturday from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, meet local independent authors who are eager to share their knowledge on the sci-fi/fantasy writing world and help world-build stories from audience members. Each author will present for approximately 30 minutes and there will be a Q&A after the presentations, as well as an opportunity for meet and greets.

PRO Tip: Presenting authors include Marisa E. Cardin, Michael Brockbank, Thomas Fowler, and Maddi Bluhme.

National Western Stock Show & Rodeo

The National Western Stock Show & Rodeo is kicking off this weekend. You won’t want to miss this cherished Colorado tradition that’s been beloved since 1906! Every January at the National Western Complex, locals and tourists alike flock to see the nation’s premier livestock, rodeo, and horse show featuring top-notch bull riders, livestock competitions, and auctions. There will even be acres of shopping at the state’s largest Western trade show! Highlights from the rodeo include a multitude of pro rodeo events, including the Mexican Rodeo Extravaganza on Sunday featuring Mexican-style bull riding, bareback riding, trick roping, and Mariachis.

PRO Tip: Saturday morning will start off with the CINCH World Team semi-final, followed by the afternoon Pendleton Whisky Colorado Team semi-final. The leaders from the Colorado Team will face off against the leaders of the CINCH Team at the finals on Saturday night to see who is crowned the champion!

Liquid Inspiration: A Cocktail Endeavor

Liquid Inspiration is a temporary bar concept that offers participants approachable, yet creative cocktails that have been inspired by the finely crafted products of Denver area distilleries. These bar activations are designed to celebrate the artistic and industrious prowess of local spirit producers, as well as bring awareness to nonprofits doing great work in the Mile High City. Partnered with Denver’s own Ironton Distillery & Crafthouse, the cocktail menu will be sure to delight. In true pop-up fashion, the location for this event will be revealed at a later date.

PRO Tip: Check out the menu ahead of time! Mixed drinks take advantage of the Ironton Single Malt Whisky, the Ironton Old Alchemist Gin, and the Ironton Barrel Aged Rum. There’s something for everyone!

Family-Friendly Activities in Denver This Weekend

Get the little ones in on the fun this weekend with a free day at the zoo or a visit to the Air & Space Museum for Cockpit Demo Day!

Free Day at the Zoo

Each year, organizations from across the Denver metro area provide hundreds of free days and free programs made possible, in part, by funding from SCFD. Take advantage of this Friday’s Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance Free Day from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM! Free Day tickets are available online and walk-ups will not be accepted on Friday. Visitors may book up to five tickets for each Free Day, with a limit of one registration per person. There will be 6 additional Free Days at the zoo throughout the year, so mark your calendars for upcoming dates!

PRO Tip: Remaining 2025 Free Days will include January 26th, February 9th, April 6th, November 7th, November 15th and November 23rd.

Cockpit Demo Day

Where? 7711 East Academy Boulevard, Hangar 1
When? January 11th

The Air & Space Museum is hosting their Cockpit Demo Day this Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Guests will have the opportunity to get an up-close look inside select aircraft at the museum and learn all about the history behind the aircraft, as well as the function behind the instruments and controls! January’s featured aircraft include the Lockheed T-33A T-Bird, the North American F-100D Super Sabre, the Apollo Boilerplate Capsule, the Velocity, and the Bede BD-5 (which will also be wheelchair accessible). Featured aircraft are subject to change.

PRO Tip: Guests can pre-purchase their tickets for Cockpit Demo Day online, with prices ranging from $19.95 for adults ages 17 to 64 to $12.95 for youth ages 4 to 16. Active military members, veterans and seniors ages 65 and up receive discounted rates. Children ages 3 and under are free.

Sensory-Friendly Morning @ the Denver Art Museum

The Denver Art Museum is excited to host this Sunday’s sensory-friendly morning from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This museum program is designed for kids with neurodiversity or sensory-processing disorders and their families, providing them with a chance to visit the museum in a safe and fun way. The museum will open early, dim the lights, and provide tools to aid and guide a sensory-friendly experience for visitors. These sensory-friendly mornings take place quarterly on the second Sunday of the month.

PRO Tip: Tickets are complimentary and registrations can be made online. These sensory-friendly mornings are supported by Marlowe and Harrison Crown and the residents who support the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD).

Free Day @ the Denver Museum of Nature & Science

Where? 2001 Colorado Boulevard
When? January 12th

Get ready to satisfy your science curiosity during an SCFD Free Day at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science this Sunday. No tickets are required for general museum admission on these days. Guests can walk up anytime on a free day and gain access to the Wildlife Halls or to the permanent exhibitions. Separate tickets are required for those who want to swing by the planetarium or the brand-new Infinity Theatre.

PRO Tip: Other Free Days and Nights at the museum in 2025 include February 2nd, March 7th, April 7th & 27th, and May 12th.
