What to Do in Denver This Weekend August 29th-September 1st 

The much anticipated long weekend is just around the corner, so keep powering through the week and finish strong! Celebrate the federal holiday of Labor Day with this exciting lineup for weekend fun across the Mile High City, from MLB games, swing dancing and ice cream, art gallery crawls and much more.

Activities, Events, Shows, and More in Denver This Weekend

Get ready for an unforgettable Labor Day weekend in the Mile High City! From Nerd Nite out at The Bug Theatre to the 12th Annual Brew Fest at Coors Field, there’s plenty going on for all personalities and interests.

Nerd Nite

Where? 3654 Navajo Street
When? August 29th

Nerd Nite this Friday is a must for everyone fascinated by TED talks, the Discovery Channel, Wikipedia binges and more. From 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, The Bug Theatre is hosting all the nerds that call the Mile High City home. This weekend’s lineup will feature Alison Casket , Emily Kleinfelter, and Mike Ehrenburg across the three hour show. Tickets can be purchased for $12.50 online or $40 for a four pack. Prices will increase to $20 at the door per ticket. Doors open at 6:30 PM, so arrive early to get settled and to grab a drink.

PRO Tip: Hang out at the after show at Diebolt Brewing Company, where you’ll find free pizza to replenish all the calories you burned while your brain was working overtime at Nerd Nite.

Where? 2001 Blake Street
When? August 29th-September 1st 

The Rockies are playing at Coors Field all weekend long! Catch one of the games against the Chicago Cubs on Friday, Saturday or Sunday or cheer on the home team as they face off against the San Francisco Giants on Monday at 2:10 PM. Arrive early on Friday to snag a City Connect Beach Towel for the first 10,000 fans. There will also be a ceremonial first pitch special guest – Jen Millet, the Denver Summit FC President! On Saturday, there will be a basketball jersey giveaway for the first 15,000 fans. Fans ages 21 and up can also snag tickets to a special event on Saturday. Brew Fest requires a special themed ticket!

PRO Tip: Monday’s game will offer a unique opportunity for kids ages 15 and under to run the bases after the game!

Bike Repair Clinic

Where? 1501 South Logan Street
When? August 30th

The Decker Branch Library is hosting a Bike Repair Clinic, presented by Bikes Together. This event is designed for families of all ages and will run from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday. Bring your wheels along for a free 10-minute bicycle tune up, where you’ll also learn basic bike maintenance skills. There will be volunteer bike mechanics onsite to help keep your bike running smoothly.

PRO Tip: This is a free event that is offering services on a first come, first served basis. Arrive early and request one-on-one instruction if you’re interested in learning about DIY maintenance so you can feel confident while riding!

Swingin’ Under the Stars

Where? 2620 16th Street
When? August 30th

Get ready for a spectacular evening of Swingin’ Under the Stars this Saturday at Little Man Ice Cream. Hosted by Swingin’ Denver, experienced, intermediate and beginner dancers are all welcome for a late summer night of live swing music, free dance lessons and ice cream. This is the final iteration of the 2025 summer season, so be there or be square! Saturday’s band will be The Silver Lining Serenaders. Want to continue dancing? Swingin’ Denver also hosts classes, dance parties and more, so be sure to check out their schedule here.

PRO Tip: Arrive early for free beginner Lindy Hop taster lessons at 7:30 PM and the first band break for those trying to learn the basic steps. The band will start playing at 8:00 PM and no partner or experience is required for a good time!

End of Summer Shrimp Boil

Bruz Beers is excited to invite you to the End of Summer Shrimp Boil this Saturday from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Say goodbye to summer with refreshing beer and a flavorful shrimp boil where you won’t mind getting your hands messy. Join the fun on the patio at Bruz Off Fax for shrimp, brews, music and as much fun as you can handle. Tickets include one pound of peel and eat shrimp, as well as andouille sausage, potatoes, and corn. You’ll also receive one free Belgian beer and DJ Blake Britton will be spinning tunes to keep the vibes high. Additional activities include flash tattoos by Dan Spaulding. 

PRO Tip: The shrimp boil can cater to pescatarians and boil in a separate pot with no sausage. When purchasing your ticket, include a message specifying this dietary requirement! Ticket prices are set at $39.19, which includes fees.

12th Annual Brew Fest

Where? 2001 Blake Street
When? August 30th

This year marks the 12th Annual Brew Fest at Coors Field! Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy tastings and samples from both regional and Colorado breweries. After you’ve tasted the lineup, you can even cast a vote for your favorite brew. The winning brewery will receive a tap on The Rooftop for all April 2026 games, including Opening Day for the Rockies. Brew Fest ticket packages include a ticket to watch the Rockies take on the Cubs, as well as 6 drink tickets, each one good for a 4 ounce pour. Attendees will also have exclusive access to Brew Fest at Coors Field before the game, with hours running from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and first pitch at 6:10 PM.

PRO Tip: Brew Fest is for guests ages 21 and up only. Anyone underage, including infants and small children, will not be allowed into Brew Fest.

Denver Municipal Band Free Concert

Where? 2700 Arapahoe Street
When? August 30th

The Denver City Band first formed in 1861 and here we are, 160+ years later! Now known as the Denver Municipal Band, the group is still proud to bring music to the community designed to delight and inspire. The band is known for bringing live tunes to local parks for free concerts, giving everyone equal opportunity to enjoy. The group also helps 2,000+ students in their musical pursuits and passions. This Saturday, enjoy the jazz band showcase at The Savoy Denver. The Municipal Band will be playing two sets during the evening, starting at 7:00 PM with limited seating. The sets are expected to be wrapped by 9:00 PM and no tickets are required.

PRO Tip: Doors open at 6:00 PM and the show is open to all ages. There will be a parking lot available on 26th & Curtis. 

Sundays on Santa Fe

Where? 525 Santa Fe Drive
When? August 31st

Sundays on Santa Fe is your go-to spot for gallery hopping, boutique shopping and all things art perusing. These Sunday crawls are scheduled for the last Sunday of each month, now happening year-round! Sundays on Santa Fe are scheduled from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, giving you the whole afternoon to explore. Participating galleries and shops include 910 Arts, Abstract Denver, Artists on Santa Fe, Carol Meir Fashion, Elevated Metaphysical, Gallery 6, Green Lady Gardens and many more. 

PRO Tip: The Sunday gallery crawl on Santa Fe occurs year round, so make it a recurring addition to the weekend schedule. Families are welcome, so bring the kids or make it an adult-only afternoon while you shop.

Sunday Funday: Backyard Bands & Brews 

Where? 2015 Market Street
When? August 31st

Sunday Funday is back all August long, so make it count this Sunday for the last date! The event is presented by ViewHouse Ballpark from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, complete with a live DJ, giant yard games, volleyball, giveaways and a local band closing out the festivities on the courtyard stage. Make August unforgettable and create lasting summer memories with close friends and new pals.

Gregory Alan Isakov

Where? 18300 West Alameda Parkway

Gregory Alan Isakov is coming to Red Rocks for two nights only this Sunday and Monday, with both performances scheduled for 7:00 PM. The South African-born American singer and songwriter is based out of Boulder. His impressive discography features six full-length studio albums across the indie and folk genre, often featuring instruments such as the guitar and banjo. 

PRO Tip: Doors open at 6:00 PM, so arrive early to get settled, grab a drink and enjoy the show! $1 from each ticket will benefit SAME Cafe on Sunday and Youth on Record on Monday.

Family-Friendly Activities in Denver This Weekend

Even though summer is winding down, that doesn’t mean the weekend fun needs to stop! Get the kids excited to learn at Family Storytime at Central Library or learn about all things butterflies and pollinators at Chatfield Farms through Monday.

Family Storytime

Where? 10 West 14th Avenue 
When? August 31st

Family Storytime at Denver’s Central Library will be held from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday. The program features stories, songs, rhymes and fun of all kinds for kids ages 0 to 5 years old, along with their favorite grown ups! There is no reservation required for story time and no fee to participate in the fun. Make it a play date while the little ones meet new friends and catch up with familiar faces. The story time will be held in the children’s library.

PRO Tip: Parents or guardians can request ASL, CART or other disability related accommodates with a minimum of five business days’ notice for library programs by contacting the programs department at programs@denverlibrary.org.

Butterflies at Chatfield Farms

Where? 8500 West Deer Creek Canyon Road
When? Through September 1st

Bring the kids out to Chatfield Farms to encounter native butterflies as they flutter through the lush and colorful garden. The seasonal butterfly habitat is home to hundreds of native butterflies, including swallowtails, monarchs, mourning cloaks and painted ladies. The last entry of the day is at 3:00 PM, with the habitat closing at 3:30 PM. While you’re visiting, you’ll have an opportunity to learn what types of plants that you can add to your home garden to attract butterflies and other pollinators! Access to the butterfly house is included with admission to Chatfield Farms, so grab your reservation here.

PRO Tip: The habitat will only be open through this weekend, so make it a point to visit if you haven’t already! 

Animal Kingdom 3D

Animal Kingdom 3D takes viewers on a spectacular adventure as they celebrate what makes the natural world so wonderful and beautiful. Enjoy views of brilliant nature footage as the film introduces a cast of characters that you won’t soon forget, including cute penguins, elephants wise beyond their years and even quirky dung beetles. This is a giant screen experience that viewers of all ages will enjoy.

PRO Tip: Tickets for shows at the Infinity Theatre are sold separately from your admission to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. Reserve your tickets in advance for one of the multiple daily time slots.
