This week’s Seedlings program at the Denver Botanic Gardens invites young explorers to discover how berries have a tasty, unique way of putting pops of color into the world. Friday’s schedule features two morning time slots, one at 9:15 AM and the other at 10:30 AM. Tickets are priced at $12 for nonmember toddlers and $10 for members. One adult is admitted per child free of charge and cancellations more than one week prior to the class are refundable up to 15% of the program cost.
PRO Tip: If this is your first Seedlings experience, keep in mind that the program features both indoor and outdoor components. Children should come dressed with this in mind, which may mean layers and appropriate footwear.
Colorado Rockies Vs. Atlanta Braves

The Colorado Rockies are taking on the Atlanta Braves in a three-game home stand this weekend, kicking off on Friday at 6:40 PM at Coors Field. Saturday’s matchup features a belt bag giveaway for the first 1,000 fans to line up behind Section 110 between 4:45 PM and 5:15 PM. Sunday’s final game is the 20th annual Faith Day at Coors Field, which is a post-game event that is set to feature GRAMMY and Dove award-winning artist, Zach Williams.

This Saturday’s newest Teaching Kitchen Workshop: Harvest Kitchen, is one you won’t want to miss! Children will begin their grand adventure by creating a harvest list for lunch. Upon completion, they’ll take a field trip to the Cornucopia Garden, where they’ll learn how to harvest a variety of fresh produce. Once “shopping” is done, they’ll head to the kitchen to start cooking! Participants will learn how to make a recipe using the produce they harvested and then dig into the delicious final product. This class is designed for kids ages 5 and up.

Glider Showcase

The Glider Showcase is taking place at the Exploration of Flight at Centennial Airport this weekend from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday. This special event invites attendees to explore the fascinating world of gliders, including display aircraft and the tow planes that launch them into the skies. Gliders are unique in that they rely on the dynamic interaction of air forces against their surfaces to take flight. These sleek designs are a feat of engineering. Among the gliders on display is the historic 1964 Schweizer SGS 2-32 Glider.

Maker Mornings: Material Exploration Part 3 (Chalk)

The Maker Mornings program at Denver’s Clyfford Still Museum is specially designed for children ages 15 months to 8 years old, with siblings of any age welcome to join in as well. Participants will spend time in the galleries with a librarian from the Denver Public Library system for story time before heading to the hands-on creation studio. This week, children will have the chance to explore chalk, with an intentionally open-ended time that allows them to interact with the material in their own unique way.

Rock & Reuse Summer Concert Series

This story time will be held in Denver’s Central Library from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday. Families can head to the children’s library on the first floor for a half hour of stories, songs, rhymes, and fun for kids of all ages. This is not a drop-off event, so parents should expect to hang out and enjoy the readings. Families can also request ASL, CART, or other disability-related accommodations via the programs department of the library system with a minimum notice of 5 days.

Hometown Half Marathon

The Hometown Half Marathon is coming back to town this Sunday in Westminster. Events included in this fun day of racing feature a 5K, a 10K, a half marathon, and a kid’s dash! There is even a virtual run option if you can’t make it out in person. The event takes place in the parking lot located south of The Westin in Westminster and participants can enjoy a range of great swag, such as designer shirts and custom medals. There will be post-race food available if you get famished!
PRO Tip: There is special youth-based pricing for ages 12 and under, which is set at just $15 to participate! Festivities kick off at 7:00 AM, so arrive bright and early for a jam-packed day of exercise and community fun!
14th Annual Pancake Stampede 5K

On Sunday, join in on the fun at the annual Pancake Stampede at the Hudson Gardens & Event Center in Littleton. You’re sure to work up an appetite as you run or walk the 3.1-mile course on the stunning Mary Carter Greenway, situated alongside the South Platte River. This race is great for the whole family and strollers are allowed! No dogs, however, are able to participate in this race. Registration fees are priced at $25 for adults and $10 for children under the age of 14.
PRO Tip: There will be free parking available at nearby Arapahoe Community College. The event is set to be held rain or shine so if the forecast shows a few rain clouds — bring a light jacket or umbrella!
Water Garden Society Water Blossom Festival

Check out the Denver Botanic Garden’s world-renowned water gardens during their peak blooming period this Sunday! Attendees can sign up for a guided tour to learn more about these unique aquatic plants in the collection, as well as pick up some helpful tips from experts about water gardening. There will additionally be a collection of carnivorous plants on display and visitors can take home a free plant while supplies last. The festival is included with the cost of admission to the gardens, which is priced at $15.75 for adults and $11.50 for children ages 3 to 15. Members get in free!

Snoopy and the Red Baron

Wings Over the Rockies has a new exhibit, Snoopy and the Red Baron, where young aviation fanatics can experience a high-flying adventure with their favorite Peanuts character. Attendees can check out comic strips, rare memorabilia, and behind-the-scenes insights into the creation of these timeless tales. The exhibit has something for the entire family and special activities include a paper airplane station, a selfie station, and coloring activities! The Snoopy exhibit is included with the price of museum admission and is only available for a limited time — so make sure you check it out before September 2nd!
