It’s Halloween season and for those in the mood for a good scare, we have gathered the best haunted house experiences in and around Denver. Check out our favorites below if you dare, bwahahaha…

The 13th Floor Haunted House 

What days: Open select nights through November 12th. Check out the calendar for more info.
What times: The haunted house opens at 7pm. You select your time slot when purchasing your tickets online.
Where: 3400 E 52nd Ave, Denver, CO 80216
How much: Ticket prices vary according to dates and start at $19.99

The 13th floor is one of the most popular haunted house experiences in Denver. In addition to one of the scariest haunted houses, you can also enjoy axe throwing, mini escape games, a maze, a secret bar and even a private VIP experience. 

Note that Thirteenth Floor also runs The Asylum and City of the Dead, but these experiences will not be open in the 2022 Halloween season.

Reinke Bros Haunted Mansion

What days: September 23rd – October 31st
What times: Monday-Thursday 6pm – 10pm; Friday 6pm – midnight; Saturday 3pm – midnight; Sunday 3pm – 10pm

The 50+ years old family run haunted mansion is opening up for this Halloween season with even more chills and thrills than ever before.

A favorite spot by many including Alice Cooper ‘No more Mr. Nice guy’ himself.

Terror in the Corn

What days: September 23rd – October 31st, Thursdays to Sunday.
What times: Friday – Saturday 7pm until 11pm. Closes at 10pm all other days.
Where: 6728 County Rd 3 1/4, Erie, CO 80516

The Haunted Attraction Association named Terror in the Corn one of the top 45 haunted attractions in the nation, and it is regarded as the pinnacle of the haunted house experience in Colorado. 

10 acres of fear where you and your friends will wind your way through a massive corn field filled with your darkest fears… leading to the town of Raven’s Gulch where you will make your way through its abandoned buildings and darkened streets to face the nightmares that greet you at every turn. Spookyyyyy!

This site also offers escape rooms, fire pits and a shooting gallery.

Haunted Field of Screams

What days: September 30th – October 31st, Thursdays through Sundays
What times: Opens at sundown and closes at midnight Friday & Saturday and at 10pm Thursday & Sunday.

How much: Prices are from $29.99 depending on dates. VIP option also available. 

Maize in the City by day and Haunted Field of Screams by night. Considered Colorado’s longest and largest haunted attraction, an iconic 40 acres of corn field serves up terrorizing experiences that prey on individuals innermost fears.

Venture through uncharted territory, weaving through giant corn stalks, take a ride down to the woods, encounter multiple haunted houses and survive the Riverdale Gates of Hell.

The Frightmare Compound

Considered Colorado’s oldest haunted establishment. Located in Westminster it was Denver’s first haunted house. For the past 38 years The Frightmare Compound has invested millions of dollars in order to intensify its experience. Not for the faint hearted!

They have something for the whole family but if you are really brave, they offer a ‘Lights out Haunted House’ experience. Completely in the dark!

Also on offer are mini escape rooms, coffin simulator ride and even a monster museum.

Fright by Night (Fright Fest)

What days: Open Weekends from October 1-30
What times: Opens 6pm. No Entry or re-entry after 9:00pm.
Where: Elitch Gardens, 2000 Elitch Circle Denver, CO 80204

Fright by Night takes over Elitch Gardens when the sun goes down (6pm), turning your favorite theme park into a scary zombie land. You can enjoy the rides and wonder the park finding creatures lurking around many corners.

More than that, you can enjoy one of the following special experiences:

LOCK UP: NO ESCAPE – Can you make your way through this haunted house, filled with wild inmates, or will you break under pressure? This attraction costs an additional $20.

BIG TOP FREAKS – Anyone scared of clowns? This haunted house is filled with them… the scarrry kind! This attraction costs an additional $20.

SÉANCE – This unique immersive experience has it all… it even includes audience participation. It costs an additional $15 and requires a reservation.

Hellscream Haunted House

What days: Open Thursdays to Sundays, September 9th – November 5th. More info on calendar.
What times: The haunted house opens at 7pm and closes most nights at 10pm, with some late nights going until 11pm. More info on calendar.
Where: 3021 North Hancock Ave, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80907
How much: Tickets cost $22 per person weekdays and $25 per person weekends.

While not as close as some of the other haunted houses to Denver, we included this as a bonus one as it is worth the drive. Voted in both Cosmopolitan Magazine and MSN website as The Scariest Haunted House in Colorado, for 11 years, this multi-story haunted mansion has fascinated and frightened both guests and media organizations.  

You can also visit their Escape Rooms, which Google users frequently rank as the most captivating, frightful, interesting, and enjoyable escape rooms around.
