Professionals Miracles Foundation – Meet Olivia

Our mission is to provide assistance to Denver Metro area children and families to help improve the lives of children diagnosed with a life threatening illness, faced with a lifetime medical condition, or are involved in tragic accidents.

Olivia is an 11-year-old girl with a genetic disorder- AMPD2 related pontocerebellar hypoplasia type 9, agenesis of the corpus callosum, epilepsy, congenital diplegic cerebral palsy, cortical blindness, feeding difficulties with G tube dependence, chronic respiratory failure 2/2 OSA and restrictive lung disease with BiPAP dependence, s/p VRDO w/ hardware removal, and developmental disability.

PMF was able to not only provide financial assistance but also worked closely with the Home Builder’s Foundation to completely remodel and revamp the main level bathroom so her father can care for her hygiene needs specifically getting her reasonably into her new bathtub.

Her father also cares for his 17 year old son so has had to quit his full time career to be a full time caretaker.  He is also working on getting a license so he can provide Olivia’s medicines and alleviate the cost of having someone come in daily to provide that service.

Olivia also requires assistance with all transfers/ambulation through her home so they are also reaching out for financial assistance for a wheelchair compatible vehicle.  Olivia is unable to care for herself due to her developmental disability and requires assistance with all activities of daily living and with all medication/medical treatment required daily.

As Olivia is getting older and growing, her demands on her father will be growing and lead to more physical strain in caring for Olivia. She utilizes oxygen and resultant equipment for administration, is dependent on G-tube feeds, receives weekly therapy services in home, and utilizes DME in home for ambulation and support of her daily needs.
